Comprehensive planning for 9th grade students

The road to college starts now! Applying to college is no longer a task reserved for high school seniors alone; it's a four-year planning process that begins in ninth grade. Decisions made as early as freshman year significantly impact the trajectory of the entire high school career. Since colleges look at your accomplishments from all four years of high school, starting early allows you to create a plan for your academic and extracurricular activities, ensuring you are on track to meet your long-term goals.

Grade 9 & 10 packages include up to 4 meetings per year, Grade 11 includes up to 8 meetings per year, and Grade 12 includes up to 15 meetings per year.  The calendar year begins July 1.

Working with a counselor can promote personal development, including time management, organization, and study skills, which are essential for success in high school and beyond. We will also help you discover your interests, passions, and potential college or career paths.

Colleges consider the rigor and breadth of your high school transcript. When colleges look at applications, they pay attention to how challenging and diverse your classes are. By mapping out your courses, you can ensure you have the prerequisites for advanced classes and take advantage of unique opportunities. Planning your academics also lets you try out different subjects you might like before making long-term decisions. 

Now is the time to join extracurricular activities and get involved in community service. These are crucial aspects of a strong college application that shows you are well-rounded. Your counselor will encourage extracurriculars that showcase your interests and leadership abilities. Additionally, your counselor can recommend useful summer programs, internships, or volunteer opportunities that will make your resume stand out and give you an advantage in the admissions process.
