I’m Jenna Schebell, founder of The College Navigators, former college admissions director, former high school director of college counseling, and the voice many families know online as Your College Navigator.

I’ve worked on both sides of the admissions process—reviewing applications inside college admissions offices, making admissions decisions, and later guiding students and families through the process from the counseling side.

That perspective changes everything.

Because college admissions isn’t about checking every box, chasing prestige, or trying to “game” the system.

It’s about understanding how decisions are actually made—and helping students strategically position themselves in a way that feels authentic, compelling, and aligned with the right-fit colleges.

My approach is honest, strategic, and rooted in real experience—not guesswork.

Just transparent guidance designed to help students stand out, reduce stress, and make smart, confident decisions in a process that often feels anything but clear.

For the past 10 years, I've had the privilege of helping high school students navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives: choosing the right college.

During my time as a high school college counselor, I reviewed thousands of college applications and essays while working with students pursuing every type of college experience—from highly selective universities to public institutions and liberal arts colleges.

One thing became clear very quickly:

There is no such thing as the "perfect" college.

There is only the right college for each individual student.

That belief is at the heart of everything I do.

I was fortunate to be mentored by Jenna, and I share the same philosophy that college admissions should never be about chasing prestige or simply getting an acceptance letter. It's about helping students find a college where they'll thrive academically, socially, and personally.

From the first conversation to the final application, I believe every student deserves thoughtful, individualized guidance—not a one-size-fits-all approach. My goal isn't simply to help students get into college. It's to help them find the place that's truly the right fit for them.
